One Closeup of the western Diamondback Rattlesnake

OKAY MIKE, Here are some new postings!! Finally!

THESE GUYS ARE SO WELL CAMOFLAGED THAT YOU
CAN BARELY SEE THEM IF THEY DON'T MOVE!
Gotta give credit to Dale Southern for the photos of the snake, ('cause he is a better photographer than I am!!) We have been coming to the Arizona desert for many many years now.
I have always said that "we never see any snakes"!!!! Well, this year was the exception. we had a total of four pretty large rattlers in camp with us... that we saw, that is! This big guy was without any rattles, so he couldn't have warned us of his presence. All he had was a 'bud' where the rattles would have been. here he is coiled and ready to strike. We did the old wild west thing and shot him with the trusty 380 automatic, giving him a proper dispatch with a shovel and then roasted him in the evening campfire.

GOOD SNAKEY!
