A Mojave Green Rattlesnake

A VERY RARE PICTURE OF THE REAL DEAL

A Mojave Green Rattlesnake.
Before I decided to include this picture, I did a "Google" search for the species. I was amazed to discover that we had actually seen a very rare Mojave Green that was actually green! The websites all show the brown variety of the "Green" snake. Information on the web disclosed that the green ones are only seen at the higher altitudes. I was on my dirt bike above Jerome, AZ, (altitude appx. 6,000 ft.),when this snake was sunning itself on the dirt road as I rounded the bend in the very narrow road.

Had I known that this is the most poisonus of the 17 venomous snakes in the US I certainly would not have gotten within 4 feet to take this picture!! The website says that it is 16 times more potent than the sidewinder, which is the second most poisonous in the US.
