Here's the Boss at her modified dinette table.

Our slideout is the raised floor type. (Flat floors didn't come out until 2 years after we bought our motor home.) So the front wheels of her chair stop her from getting under the table to eat or to do her routine make up, etc. I had a table top made with a large leaf that would be inserted into the table top. (We can still use it for our Grandchildrens' bed if their moms and dads ever allow them to sleep-over with us ... or better yet to travel with us when they get older.)
If you look closely at the rear of the table you'll notice a "table on the table". It allows Linda to have a storage area for all her medicines, makeups, perfumes, face creams and those other essentials that women spend endless hours fixing themselves up with each day. Above the "table on a table" I had the cabinet maker install the really necessary appliance... our electric coffee pot!
Through the open doorway you can see the shower and bathroom sink area. The door opening only had to modified by opening the door frame by one inch. If you really look hard, in the bedroom you can see the overhead tram system that I use to put the boss into and out of her bed or chair. The lift is a Barrier Free Lift, made in Germany, and like all that German stuff, it never quits on us. Works great! I never have to lift her any more. Since she has put on a few more pounds, and I'm getting older and weaker... it is a real back saver. It's going on eight years old and never has given us any grief!
Now for the minutae, if you look carefully, just above the countertops drawer, you'll see a white switch. (It is between the electric water heater and the 110v electric outlet.) That is a switch that I put in so that Linda can turn on a light for and by herself. It is the only one that she can reach!!! But it does the job for her and for me.

  1. Hi Rod & Linda! Boy does that bring back memories! Remember when we were all at Lazy Days in Florida and Tim was the "tester" for Linda's chair lift? Was that really 8 years ago? He'll be 22 August 5th! Linda you look beautiful! Love to you both.
